After 32 years, we are leaving our familiar place. We didn’t want to go, but the owner of the building had a different idea, and in the end, we had to give up our resistance. Fortunately, we are not disappearing from our splendid location at Max Euweplein. The same owner has offered us another space in the same building, so essentially only our house number is changing. Nevertheless, this move, with all its associated challenges, does require a significant effort, both in terms of organization and financially. We handle the former ourselves, and for the latter, we rely on you, our donors, who have supported us through thick and thin for so many years. The expected total cost of legal assistance, moving, and redesigning is estimated to be around 18 to 20,000 euros.
Your support is always most visible in December when we are surprised year after year by the large number of donations, big and small, coming in from all over the country. I hope that you can continue to support us this year and that you might even be exceptionally generous to help us as much as possible with the move. This way, we can remain on our new premises as what we have been for so many years: a unique chess center and a much-visited museum that keeps the memory of our Dutch former world champion Max Euwe alive and honored.
